RYLA College Scholarship

The Rotary Club of Suntree RYLA College Scholarship is the brainchild of Rotary Club of Suntree President Alan Frisher.

Each year, when one more more entries are received, the club awards at least one scholarship of $1,000 to a District 6930 RYLA senior high school student based on a written essay. Mr. Frisher has agreed to fund the scholarship at a rate of $500 per year for at least the next ten years, and the Rotary Club of Suntree Foundation matches his annual contribution. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, an original essay or creative treatise, no more than 300 words in total must be submitted, describing how any one portion of the Rotary 4-way test can help you, as a current and future leader in your community, guide you and/or focus your energy toward achieving one or more important goal(s) in your life,

OR:

An original essay or creative treatise, no more than 300 words in total must be submitted, describing how your RYLA experience has helped you, as a current and future leader in your community, guide you and/or focus your energy toward achieving one or more important goal(s) in your life.

Essays/creative treatises submitted online will be read and subjectively graded for originality, practicality, and resourcefulness by one or more members of the Suntree Rotary Club Board of Directors. Candidates whose work displays those unique qualities will be contacted by a Board member of the Suntree Rotary Club for a personal interview to discuss their goal(s) and submitted work.

All decisions are final unless the student, for whatever reason, does not attend college. In that case, all scholarship money previously paid must be returned to the Suntree Rotary Club Foundation.

Deadline for submissions is March 5th.

Final review of essays and interviews will be held by April 5th, with scholarship decisions made by April 30th.
