It is well known that ROTARY is one of the largest organizations of it’s kind in the world.  From it’s humble start in Chicago, IL USA it has spread to almost every nation.  Projects such as Polio Plus have wiped out diseases in country after country while clean water projects have saved countless lives by providing safe, clean drinking water to people who have never had access to it before.

Besides actively working on, and supporting these very worthwhile projects ROTARY also works close to home.  This year alone the ROTARY CLUB OF SUNTREE has distributed all of the profits from The Great Tastes at Suntree to three groups that are doing excellent work in meeting some pressing needs right here in Brevard!  First there is the Space Coast Center for Women and Children.  Here women with young children can reside together as they regroup and learn the skills necessary to succeed on their own.  The program works.  We know because many of our ROTARIANS have worked there renovating living spaces and in the process seeing the people served by this wonderful organization first hand.  Another group which we support is the Boys and Girls Club of Temple Terrace.  Not only does our own Bob Harmeyer volunteer there but another member, Richard Yount, serves as their Executive Director.  Last, but not least, Promise in Brevard is well know as it’s new facility was recently dedicated and it has received support, both private and public, to meet the needs of some of our wonderful special needs population.  THE SUNTREE ROTARY CLUB is very proud to have played a part in helping to make this dream a reality.

Through the generosity of our club members, and many other members of the community who support what we do, we have been able to assist in many other undertakings and support other groups that are also meeting the needs of our residents.  Brevard Alzheimer’s (Joe’s Club) and the Brevard Schools Foundation are just two of these organizations.  Like most of the other groups our members are in close contact with these groups often serving a volunteers so we really  know that the dollars you and we give are doing the good they were meant to do!

There are many other ways we do our best to help our community.  From sending students to the highly acclaimed Rotary Youth Leadership retreat in Port St. Lucie to sponsoring an Interact Club at Viera H.S. where students learn and practice how to do the very same type of think our club does to the planning and caring for our ROTARY Park.  In all these efforts we use the skills that we have learned as business people, as professional leaders and as caring citizens so others can benefit too.

We are always looking for new members.  If you would like to learn more why not contact us or come to one of our weekly meetings!
